P1E'S Inquiry about Mass, Weight, and Volume

Does the size of an orange affect its weight?

How much juice can one orange make?

These are some of the provocations that guided our math activity in P1E as we explored mass, weight, and volume.

The enthusiastic students inquired about the weight and volume of different citrus fruits. They utilized their knowledge and skills in measuring weight with the use of a scale, then measured the volume of the juice they had squeezed out in a measuring cup. The students displayed engagement and curiosity as they weighed, squeezed, measured, and wrote down the data.

They were able to conclude that the size of an orange is directly proportional to its weight and volume of juice. Of course, the best part for them was drinking all that delicious juice!
