LIBRARY ORDER

Deadline for returning books: 14 days.

We can extend the deadline of a borrowed book if the book is not already reserved for other library members.

We don't have a membership fee or penalty for delay.

Every student and European school worker is eligible to access the school library. Upon registration, library members get their library card, with which they can borrow books for free. At the end of the school year, students must bring back all the books that they borrowed from the school library throughout the year.

Primary students visit the library at least once a week accompanied by their teacher, where together we pick out an interesting book for each of them. Students learn how to behave appropriately in the library, the right ways to handle a book and how to use the library services.

HISTORY

The European school library started to build its collection with the school’s founding in 2018, as a department of the main library of Ljubljana school centre. Today we are proud of our diverse collection, because we hold around 2000 books in Slovene, English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Lithuanian, Russian and Greek.

As part of the library, we joined a project, ‘Naša mala knjižnica’, which is intended for primary students of the Slovene section. Its purpose is to encourage students’ reading culture, as well as to promote multiculturality, with an emphasis on discovering European and other authors. We also joined the project ‘Rastem s knjigo’, which is intended for secondary students of the Slovene section. The purpose of this project is to provide an availability of quality and original Slovene literature for young adults and develop students’ reading motivation. We are also awarding reading badges.

The library will continue to build its collection in accordance with the mission of the school library and European school. By getting to know other cultures, we wish to broaden our knowledge and, when possible, enable each student to read in their native language.
