Erasmus Exchange in Agliana

Sunday, May 12th

Yesterday, we had to be at the bus stop by 4:40 am as the bus was scheduled to arrive at 5 am. We embarked on our journey five minutes later, which lasted for four hours until we reached Venice. Afterward, we waited for an hour until we boarded a train to Florence. Following the train ride, we transferred to another train (the final one) bound for Agliana. Upon completing the train journey, we met our hosts and proceeded to their home. (G.)

In the afternoon...

My host family took me to their home, where we had lunch. After unpacking, we drove to Pistoia. There, we briefly visited an underground church and enjoyed some ice cream. We strolled around the town for a while, stopped at some stores, and eventually returned home. (E.)

Upon arrival at school, we gathered in the conference hall and waited for our teachers. Once they arrived, we selected a song to sing for the closing ceremony. Afterward, we engaged in games with both Italian and Welsh students. Following the games, we created a promotional video for our T-shirts and decorated our folders. Then, we walked to the primary school, where we had our snack and made natural lip balm. Finally, we returned to the park in front of the school and awaited pickup by our host families. (T.)

Tuesday, 14 May

After breakfast, my host family and I went on an internal tour of the garment factory. After a walk and a short tour, we went to the school where we practised the song we will sing this Friday. After that, we visited a beekeeping shop, where we listened to a short presentation about the life of bees and the process of making honey, and then returned to school. There we then created a 3D model of a bee, made a versatile waxed fabric wrapper and got a good insight into Italian organising. After school we went out for kebabs and played in the park. (N.)

Wednesday, 15 May

When we came to school, we rehearsed for the last time our song, which we will perform on Friday. After about an hour, we headed back to the classroom, where we were divided into groups. We drew some bees, which we then glued to our project. Then we listened to a presentation about bees and made some shapes (a triangle, a circle, and a hexagon) using pieces of paper. We then tried to figure out which shape would have the most space for the bees. We also made origami, which was supposed to look like a box. Towards the end of the school day, we went into groups and made our own rap songs. We also had to perform them in front of everyone. (E.)
