HUMAN SCIENCES S1-S3
In Human Sciences, the subjects covered include History and Geography. These two subjects are mandatory from the 1st grade through to the baccalaureate. For the first three years of Secondary School, they are taught as a combined course, and then separately up until the 7th year.
HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY S4-S7
History and Geography are taught exclusively in the second language (L2), which helps students gain an international perspective beyond their own country's confines. This practice enhances their language proficiency in these subjects as they progress, with the goal of achieving true bilingualism by the end of their education, making them well-equipped for Europe. The courses are intentionally diverse and multifaceted. Instead of relying solely on traditional teaching methods, we incorporate group projects, independent research, presentations, varied media, field trips, practical fieldwork, discussions, games, and the use of multiple document sources. These methods develop students' analytical and critical thinking, cultivate an appreciation for complexity, and stimulate curiosity and awareness.
ECONOMICS
Economics is taught in two broad areas. Microeconomics, covered in S4 and S6, focuses on the choices made by individuals and companies. It explores questions such as: What should we buy? What should we produce? How should prices be set? Macroeconomics, studied in S5 and S7, examines the broader economy of a country or group of countries. It looks at issues like: Is the economy growing? Why are prices rising? Why are people losing their jobs? While students will not learn how to get rich, they will gain an understanding of how and why events unfold in the world around them.
